Preparation:

It is a two to three dental visit cosmetic procedure. During your appointment, our dentist at Annapolis will examine your teeth to make sure the veneer is appropriate for you. Our dentist and her team of expert are very careful in matching the shade to the natural adjacent teeth so they are essentially undetectable.

Your initial consultation will include an exam and x-ray for preparation. Local anesthesia may be used to make sure there is no discomfort during tooth preparation. Usually, a small amount of enamel from the front side of the teeth is trimmed, to make room for the veneer. So, that veneer gets fixed and to look natural.

The impression of your mouth is taken and sent to the laboratory to manufacture the porcelain veneers to fit your teeth. It takes 2-4 weeks for your dentist to receive the veneers back from the laboratory. In the meantime, the temporary veneer is used to cover the prepared surface. A permanent veneer is placed using a special adhesive, the bonding is hardened with a special light to hold firmly on the tooth.

After You Get Veneer:

After you get veneers, avoid biting your fingernails and chewing hard things such as ice. Your dentist also may advise you to avoid certain foods that could cause damage. Initially, you may feel uncomfortable but after a few, you get used to it. Follow your daily oral hygiene such as brushing and flossing to keep your teeth and gum clean. Consult the dentist regularly or as suggested by the dentist to stay healthy.
